I am a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship in my home town of Norwich. Some people think the ‘Full’ refers to the fact that we are always eating together!
I thought our dinner this week (September 5th) was amazing. Our speaker was Mark S. His Jewish grandparents had reacted to the holocaust by giving up their faith. His father was one of 5 brothers – 2 were gangsters, 2 were socialists, and one became an Orthodox Jew and taxi driver.
Mark was a communist leader and atheist, and went to a library to read about the resurrection of Jesus so that he could tell Christians, in debate, that it was nonsense.
A few hours later, he left the library knowing without any doubt, that Jesus rose from the dead and is alive today. His whole life was changed.
That was a great story, but there was something else wonderful about the evening. Our numbers have increased recently, sometimes reaching 70, and at Christmas, occasionally 90. For this dinner we reached out to God in prayer, and asked for 100 – or more. How many did we get? 124. The restaurant was packed, and already people are booking for our November and December dinners.
My conclusion? – our God is an awesome God!
